Senior Field Assistant

Duties and responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Field Officer (Protection) in Maungdaw, and overall supervision of the Head of Sub Office in Maungdaw, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
• UNHCR office has sufficient administrative and local support for the field activities thus better able to meet the needs of persons of concern.
• UNHCR’s policies, standards and procedures are constantly and coherently applied in the area of responsibility (AoR).
• Assist in the implementation of UNHCR programme.
• Assist in administrative tasks as required such as preparation of reports and meeting authorized personnel and assisting them during field missions.
• Act as interpreter where needed.
• Keep regular contacts with local authorities and implementing partners as requested by supervisor.
• In coordination with partners, assist in needs identification, community consultations, and provision of assistance to persons of concern to UNHCR.
• Undertake regular field visits and identify/follow up on needs of communities.
• Undertake other relevant duties as required.
• Liaise with local authority counterparts, partners and populations of concern when required.
• Direct incidents and problems to the supervisor when they cannot be resolved at their level.

Essential minimum required qualifications and professional experience
• Completion of the Secondary Education ideally with post-secondary training/certificate in Business Administration, Law, Political Science or related field;
• Minimum of 3 years of previous job experience relevant to the function;
• Excellent computer skills.
• Excellent knowledge of English and Myanmar in written and spoken, Knowledge of any local dialects of the operational area will be an advantage.
Desirable qualifications and competencies
• Completion of UNHCR learning programmes or specific training relevant to functions of the position.
