Job Description

Medical Doctor

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Under technical supervision of National Project Officer (Sittwe) and over-all supervision of the Migration Health Officer, the Medical Doctor (Mobile) will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly work plan for the mobile activity in coordination with State Health
• Supervise mobile nurses during mobile clinic activities.
• Work closely with the State Health and Township Health Department in planning and
mapping of mobile clinic services.
• Ensure that the mobile team is functioning well, reporting to Senior Project Senior
Project Coordinator in case of challenges encountered and suggesting solutions.
• Liaise with/informing respective township and village authorities prior to conducting
mobile clinics in their villages, arranging clinic location, information dissemination to
the community, etc.
• Provide primary health care services to the community and arranging patient
referrals to township hospitals for life threatening medical conditions.
• Identify any emergence of epidemic outbreaks and inform to Field Project
• Disseminating health key messages to the community during clinic visits together
with clinic nurse.
• Collect mobile clinic data and provide a regular report to State Health Director on a
monthly basis
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience
• Myanmar national
• University Degree in medicine (M.B.B.S) (Must have a valid license to practice).
• Strong management skills demonstrated by at least 1 year work experience
managing health related projects for international organizations or government and
institutions focusing on community health.
• Experience in treating patients in remote/hard to reach areas at least 2 years
• Experience of managing and developing a team, and ability to lead, motivate and
develop others.
• Capacity to work independently, efficiently with flexibility.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including ability to
speak in public, good writing, communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of MS Office software package.
• Effectively applies knowledge of health issues in execution of responsibilities at
appropriate level
• Maintains confidentiality and discretion in appropriate areas of work
• Willingness and availability to travel in the area and ability to work under difficult
• Team work oriented, proactive and demonstrated capacity to work independently.
• Good interpersonal communication skills including ability to liaise with government
staff, provide health education, and establish links with local and migrant community
in non-judgemental way.
• Strong organizational skills and able to pay attention to detail in following guidelines,
managing stock and filling out forms.
• Ability to work in group works and discussions, motivate and develop others in a
participatory manner.
• Good written and spoken English and Myanmar
• Experience in report writing in English
• Previous experience of working in remote area is preferable.
